Understanding Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport
Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport (SGH) is a general aviation airport in Springfield, Ohio. The City of Springfield describes it as a hub for unmanned aerial systems and electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft research, development, and testing. The National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence is also based there and supports that work.
The airport address is 1251 W. Blee Rd., Springfield, OH 45502, about 5 miles south of Springfield. The Ohio Air National Guard, Select-Tech Geo-Spatial, Airpark Ohio, and two aircraft maintenance repair stations are also based there.
These details point to an aviation and research focus; do not assume SGH serves your scheduled passenger flight. Confirm your flight arrangements with the relevant operator before setting out.
Checking airport services and access
SGH provides services aimed at pilots and aviation users, including Jet A and 100 LL fuel, a pilot lounge, a weather and flight-planning station, and rental car services.
Other amenities include a scheduled conference room, courtesy cars on a first-come, first-served basis, a spacious lobby, ice and coffee, and lavatory services. Availability can matter, so contact the airport before relying on a particular service.
The City of Springfield gives fixed-base operator hours as Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with weekend closure and callouts available. The telephone number is (937) 323-5804 and the email is sgh.fbo@springfieldohio.gov. Check the official site before you go.
Runway 06/24 is 9,000 feet by 150 feet, and Runway 15/33 is 5,499 feet by 100 feet; both have GPS-RNAV approaches. For flight operations, use current airport information rather than relying on details in a general travel guide.
How do you get from SGH to Xenia?
Plan the ground portion of your trip around your confirmed arrival arrangements. The hotel’s two-star hotel rooms in Xenia are an option if you are arranging a stay in town. The drive estimate above is from the hotel, not a stated airport-to-hotel route time.
If you are coordinating a rental car, SGH provides rental car services through its FBO; contact the airport about current availability and arrangements. Courtesy cars are available first-come, first-served, so confirm whether one can be used for your plans rather than counting on it.
For city plans, Xenia city centre is about a 15-minute walk or a 2-minute drive from the hotel. The airport details here do not establish a direct public-transport connection between SGH and Xenia, so confirm your ground transport before travel.
When Dayton International Airport may be a better fit
Dayton International Airport may fit your plans better if your booked passenger flight uses that airport. It is about a 38-minute drive from the hotel, compared with about 22 minutes for SGH; those times describe trips from the hotel, not a comparison of airline schedules or services.
Check your ticket for the airport name and code before arranging transportation. If you are flying into Dayton, the guide to getting from Dayton International Airport to Xenia covers that journey.
